As a dietitian, I love porridge as a breakfast option – it is healthy, warming, filling and full of fibre. But, it sometimes gets a little boring.
This recipe is based on the flavours you would expect in an apple pie – minus the tonne of sugar and calories!
45g Rolled Oats
1 medium apple – cut into 1 cm cubes (cored & skin left on)
200mls semi-skimmed milk (works with all other milks too)
1/2 teaspoon of honey
2 teaspoons of honey
6 brazil nuts chopped up
- Add your apple, honey and cinnamon to a pan and cook on a low heat for 1-2 minutes – stir continuously
- Add the oats and milk – cook for a further 2-3 minutes (or until thickened)
- Serve and sprinkle the nuts on top
