This is a new snack which is becoming ever more popular in the foodie world. Chickpeas are a good source of fibre and provide around 5g of protein per portion (25g). Made at home, you can enjoy this snack either hot or cold but please keep it stored in an air tight container to prevent sogginess.
Please note this snack is not suitable for those who have been told to follow a low salt diet or have high blood pressure.

3 x glugs of extra virgin olive oil
2 x 400g of canned chickpeas
1.5 tablespoons of salt
3 tablespoons of paprika (or more to taste)
2 tablespoons of stevia
- Pre-heat the oven to 210 º C
- Drain the chickpeas
- Dry the chickpeas between two tea towels by rubbing them gently
- Line a baking tray with baking paper and add the chickpeas
- Pour the olive oil onto the chickpeas and toss them so they are well coated
Place the chickpeas in the oven and after 15 minutes turn the oven down to 180 º C
After a total of 1 hour take the chickpeas out of the oven and add the paprika salt and stevia to them (more or less can be added to taste).
Either eat hot or save for later as a cold snack !!
