Today I had a gym revelation and something which I feel many of you could easily apply to your own workouts. Although great, the gym can be time consuming with the average work out lasting around 1 hour a day (not including time faffing in the changing room).
However, today I accidentally left my phone in the car. I almost walked back to get it before I realised how stupid it was that I couldn’t go 1 hour without it (there are after all 24 hours in the day).
By not having my phone, I saved time not checking emails/refreshing social media/checking messages from work. Instead I got my normal 1 hour 15min gym session done in 45 minutes flat. It was also more effective because I wasn’t having too much rest time between weight reps.
You know what else? This gym time then became ‘me time’ and I left feeling relaxed and re-energised.
You may say ‘but I use my phone for music’- then go old school with an iPod and make a playlist so you aren’t spending time messing about with it.
You may say ‘I use my phone as a stop watch’ – most gyms have clocks on the wall so use this or buy yourself a cheap stopwatch.
The bottom line – LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN THE LOCKER!
