So last week I didn’t see many clients because I actually took time off to go and see my family. On Sunday though, I went to a bloggers conference in Manchester and learnt something pretty special that id like to share with you.
The whole day was filled with various useful talks, but what really stood out was the closing speech: ‘The Art of Being Brilliant.‘ This was based on PhD research, which essentially looked at the difference between positive and pessimistic people. It is part of what is known as positive psychology and because we can all be subject to negative thoughts, I thought I would share this little exercise with you.
After work each day or when you are laying in bed at night – think of 3 things that you are grateful for. Very simple, but very easily it is the small things in our lives that can become overwhelming and we then forget how lucky we really are.
Oh, and the outcome of the research? ….those who were more positive basically decide to be this way. There is no secret. So get practising, put those things into perspective and start feeling a little better about yourself – you do deserve it!
