I know first hand how daunting it can be when you first get diagnosed with coeliac disease. So, I have compiled a list of places that I have personally eaten at in Manchester and Didsbury.
There may be other places available but I haven’t tried them yet and so this post will be updated periodically.
Based in the Northern Quarter, Dough kitchen is pretty much famous in the coeliac word for being bloody amazing at gluten free – any pizza or pasta you want – they have it. And, no it isn’t the tiny little ‘gluten free’ one you usually get.
Based in the Corn Exchange, this restaurant makes a great Indian street food selection but poor on desert choices with only 1 desert (ice cream) being gluten free.
Based in Hotel Gotham, this is a fine dining experience that is truly amazing. They even go to the trouble of serving you beautiful gluten free bread before your meal. The only downfall being that there is only 1 desert
Beautiful french style food with an extensive gluten free choice for both main and desert. The manager will personally take your order to ensure it is 100% gluten free.
Another fine dining experience based in the Midland Hotel. The meal itself was fantastic but when you order coffee afterwards they bring you some chocolates – none of which are gluten free. This may seem picky but at £150 a head, it isn’t too much to ask for.
Vietnamese style food where almost everything on the menu is gluten free.
Based in the Trafford Centre, Leon provide a selection of healthy fast foods which are ideal for a lunch when out shopping.
An entirely seperate gluten free menu which has a large range of both mains and deserts.
Providing fitness style food which is also really tasty. The best bit about this one is that they are on Deliveroo.
Serving gluten free fish and chips on a Sunday (and yes they are done in a seperate fryer). Available on Deliveroo.
For gluten free cake.
A selection of gluten free cakes and brownies.
Authentic Thai food with an extensive gluten free menu. Also available on Deliveroo.
A full gluten free range of pizza and some pasta’s. Available on Deliveroo.
If all else fails you can guarantee that Dominos will deliver you a pizza which is 100% gluten free. Just be careful to read the descriptions of the toppings you choose as their site doesn’t prevent you from adding a gluten containing topping to a gluten free pizza.
Gluten free crisps, biscuits and cakes.
Famous for its cakes, this bakery offers a selection of 2-3 different gluten free cakes each day.
